An Attitude of Gratitude
by Pastor's Corner on November 11th, 2014

The Psalmist declared: “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” (Psalm 34:1-3) Whether we realize it or not, we have so much more to be thankful for.  Think for a moment of the number of blessings we enjoy that we are not in control of?  The point being that if we are not in control, someone else is!  It is a good thing to know that our God is in control.  He alone takes care of all creation and He knows each of us by our names.  He is committed to His purpose for our lives and gives us every opportunity to fulfill it.

As we approach another Thanksgiving season, we must be reminded of God’s faithfulness in our lives.  Another year has almost passed and yet we are alive and well in spite of our shortcomings and failures along the way.  We realize that it is the blood of Jesus that covers us and keeps us from the desires of the adversary.  Like Peter, Satan has desired to have each one of us, our relationships, our finances, and our futures.  But the fact remains that our God covers us under the shadow of His wings and will not let any weapon formed against us prosper. Let us not take this season for granted, but pause in our busy schedules to give God the praise and thanksgiving that He is due. Let us be reminded that we would not be here today if it had not been for the goodness of the Lord!

I simply want to take this moment to encourage you that God is not through with you yet.  He has not brought you this far to leave you.  Regardless of your situation, you can have faith and know that God is for you and not against you.  You can stand on His promises that He will not let your enemies triumph over you.  We have this assurance that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has won the victory over death, sin, and the grave.  He has promised us that we are overcomers as well by the grace of our God and the power of the Holy Spirit.  Let us commit to walk in the Spirit and experience the victory in every area of our lives so that we can be the witness of God’s favor and bring glory to His name. May the Lord bless you abundantly above and beyond what you can think or imagine in this season of Thanksgiving.

In His Service,
Pastor
